Oscar Ichazo's View of the
History of Human Culture and Enlightenment
Human Culture and Enlightenment is concerned with producing an organic view of the history of human culture and enlightenment from the earliest known tribal societies to modern civilized societies. Ichazo tells us that even early cultures could produce admirable works of art that required a rather sophisticated technology.
Journey Through History
Oscar Ichazo takes us on a journey from 20,000 B.C. from the Magdalenian period up through Egyptian, Phoenician, Babylonian, Persian, and Greek cultures. This narrative includes the Teachings of the realized Wise Man of the ancient Platonists, Cynics, Stoics, Megarians, and Skeptics, and the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of the Mahayana Tradition. Furthermore, Ichazo analyzes the origins of Christianity from a historical perspective, explaining the meaning of the Mysteries of the pre–Christian world. In this book Ichazo opens our understanding of the earliest peoples who were totally conscious of the spiritual life and the Soul that survived death.
"We have the necessity of a descent into the understanding of the lower realms of being and existence and the ascent into the Highest States."
– Oscar Ichazo
This writing takes a fresh look at ancient western culture and its relationship with enlightenment. A broad review is undertaken historically to understand the drive society has toward spirituality.

This is an astonishingly thought–provoking book. Much of what the author says has been validated by academic scholars but I have never seen a single book pull the entire subject together in this way.

I came away from this book with a profound appreciation for the strength and richness of a Western mystical/philosophical tradition from the Egyptian, Greek and Zoroastrian cultures, as well as the existential crisis of our present global culture where 'national egos'—to use Ichazo's phrase—threaten an existential 'flood' that can only be navigated by a new "Ark of wisdom and knowledge" that will allow us to survive the current materialistic deluge of ignorance and distraction.

About the Author
Oscar Ichazo is the originator of Integral Philosophy, which includes the Enneagram Theory of the Ego–Fixations. His groundbreaking work underscores the need to recognize human behavior from its lower levels to its higher understanding in order to meet the challenges of the current global situation and climate crisis. From this higher perspective, and with a unified effort based on an objective ethical understanding, we can face our planet's existential challenges with Unity and focus.
