A Commentary on Crazy Wisdom
Emptiness, Emptiness
In A Commentary on Crazy Wisdom, Oscar Ichazo provides historical information about the transformative role of the Jester, delineation of what is Divine, and what is the nature of the Divine as it manifests in us humans. An understanding of the difference between awareness and the thoughts of the mind. The book describes how to use the power of humor to attain a broader perspective through the use of archetypes in a practice of approximation to the Divine. The book offers descriptions of the Five Classical Elements and how they appear in our organism and, further on, the description of a meditative practice. and how this understanding can transform beliefs, attachments, ego–positions and mind chatter into empty awareness.

EXCERPTS
"Crazy Wisdom is defined as the function of an Interrogating Mind."—Oscar Ichazo
The Questioning Mind
"Crazy Wisdom is the figure that deconstructs the lowest subjective level of ego–manifestation and heartless brutality by means of laughter and plain humor, by discovering that, in fact, all our 'suffering' is nothing but our own projections. The laughter of the Crazy Wisdom Deity, because it comes from a point of view of Enlightenment, is full of true understanding and is an endless source of tolerance and true compassion."
"The function of the Questioning Mind known as the 'Crazy Wisdom Deity' is defined as the ability, virtue or power to understand instantly that everything is the reflection of our own Mind. When we understand this, we also immediately recognize the extremely paradoxical and comical side of taking our thoughts as true reality."
The Right Perspective
"Crazy Wisdom is primarily the right perspective or the right interpretation of reality as simply phenomena rooted in our Consciousness. From this perspective we will not take ordinary reality seriously or allow these appearances, values and authority any claim to true existence. Therefore, they will be liberated into the 'Light of the Mind in itself,' or in other words, they will lose the ontological reality, or the Being of an actual existing self, and dissolve as simple appearances with no consistency of Self or ontological value of Being."
The State of Contemplation
"We have the Methods of how to reproduce The State or how to reenter into clear contemplation. The object of these Integral Methods is to make concentration, visualization, meditation, contemplation, and ecstasies possible under all conditions of human behavior and life endeavors. The Supreme Goal of life (according to Plato, followed by Plotinus) was to make life itself the highest contemplation — that is, to spiritualize our entire life in all the possible states: being awake, dreaming, in deep sleep, or contemplating. The State of Contemplation is the only State that can be developed consciously in such a way so as to permeate the other three states completely. With contemplation, life becomes just one unified spiritually illuminated life."
"Crazy Wisdom can be defined as a Mind that understands itself so completely that it does not allow any obscurations to cover its natural radiance."
Attainment
"To attain the State of Consciousness where with true contemplation we may develop a true spiritual body with the characteristics of spiritual permanence, we need a method or a series or methods capable of transforming a demonic reality into a heavenly one; or a reality of attachments to our own desires, passions and material vices with their attendant and unbearable suffering and pain, into a life liberated from attachment, desire, passion, and vice."
"Ancient Greek philosophy was not in any way an exercise of a speculative mind, but a serious study and discovery of what is foundational, transcendental, true, Divine, and consequently sacred and most holy."
Theurgy
"Theurgy, a ritual and meditation practice, was considered by antiquity as the most sacred of arts, coming down from the revered and ancient Egyptian Tradition that dated back to prehistoric time. Theurgy was the ritual practice of 'incommunicable acts.' This means we cannot communicate this Truth by way of language — we cannot speak about it because there are no words for it. Put another way, Theurgy is a work of 'thought––acts,' such as those of intention, desire, interest, attraction, attention, concentration, visualization, meditation, contemplation, and ecstasis that we certainly cannot describe and which we can experience only in intimate silence and supreme calm. In Theurgy, the main work is a relationship and a mystical union with the Divine Archetypes."
The Transcendental Mind
"We attain a view or a way of seeing that goes beyond material appearances, and we discover that these appearances are products of phenomena who are always relative and dependent on related phenomena which are also observed by the Mind. The Mind realizes its inherent instability and the spurious illusory reality produced by a view that is obscured and biased by the interests and attachments of the individual.
The foundation of all metaphysics rests on the reality that there exists a Mind that is independent from material reality, and which has inherent ideas that essentially form the qualities or attributes of this entirely Transcendental and Metaphysical Mind, with the characteristics of permanency, Innate Awareness, and immortality. When these factors are discovered, it is inevitably realized that there is a metaphysical entity, a Mind that is entirely spiritual and not dependent or attached to the body."
"Crazy Wisdom can be defined as an Awakened Mind with complete understanding and a calm–abiding ground."
Oscar Ichazo's A Commentary on Crazy Wisdom provides the direct Teachings of a transformational meditative Method to attain "the Mind of Crazy Wisdom."
Crazy Wisdom is a Mind that has entered into such stability and maturity that it no longer moves. This mind understands itself so completely that it does not allow any obscurations to cover its natural radiance.
The Mind of Crazy Wisdom is natural, calm and ordinary, in the sense of an Innate Awareness bare of veils. The Crazy Wisdom practice opens a life of happiness and tranquility.
The object of these Crazy Wisdom Teachings and practices is to make concentration, visualization, meditation, and contemplation possible under all conditions of human behavior and life endeavors.
"Work with the Crazy Wisdom Deity transforms the material mind of attachment and ignorance into an Enlightened Mind."
